- Students from abroad
The International Mobility Office provides support to students who wish to enrol in our university and are in possession of a foreign qualification.
These students are given information about how to enter and stay in Italy and how to access University courses. In addition, the office is responsible for evaluating their entry requirements.
The maximum number of places for students applying for an entry visa is established annually for each degree course and is communicated to the Ministry, for the regulation of migration flow. For these candidates, the Office also organises Italian language assessment tests, in collaboration with the departments.
There is no limit on the number of EU citizens who can access UniTS courses, nor on the number of non-European candidates with a permanent address in Italy, including refugees.
The graph below shows the geographical distribution of students enrolled at the University of Trieste coming from other countries, especially developing ones.
The number of foreign students has started to grow again, after a dip in numbers due to the pandemic.
In 2023-2024, the University confirmed its role as an attractive hub for international students. The European component remains predominant, but there is also significant representation from Africa and Asia. The map highlights UniTS' openness toward developing countries, consistent with the University’s commitment to inclusive and cooperative internationalisation.
