The University of Trieste assigns lectures to tenured staff and teaching fellows. During the academic year 2023-2024, the number of faculty decreased slightly, while the number of lectures increased, leading to an increase in teaching hours per teacher (93.4 against 90 in the previous year). The compulsory teaching load for full-time professors is 120 hours (80 hours for part-time professors). Researchers are given a lower teaching load depending on their contract and on whether they work full-time or part-time.
