The ministerial Ordinary Fund (Fondo di Finanziamento Ordinario - FFO), represents the main income for public universities. In our university, the FFO, which had grown in 2022 and 2023, saw a slight decrease in 2024, with a further reduction in the UniTS share within the Italian university system, mainly as a result of the reduction in the ‘basic quota’ and ‘balance quota’. Since 2017, however, the UniTS share of the FFO ‘bonus quota’ has gradually increased. This is due to UniTS' performance in teaching, research, outreach and internationalisation. Considering only the bonus quota, UniTS’ share within the national university system has increased from 1.17% (2017) to 1.26% (2024).
