The university must constantly adapt its course catalogue to the professional profiles required by the labour market. The Italian law (Ministerial Decree No 509/1999 and No 270/2004) requires universities to establish a continuous relationship with companies and professional associations to communicate the aims of their proposed course catalogues and to identify the knowledge and skills that each degree course must provide. The National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research Systems (ANVUR) evaluates to what extent universities take into account the demand for skills and the needs of stakeholders in the design of new degree courses of study and in the periodic review of degree courses. To ensure a stable relationship with the world of production and services, the University has established some steering committees. The number of degree courses equipped with a steering committee is increasing compared to previous academic years.

2024-2025 data shows a significant increase in consultations with industry in designing UniTS degree courses. Almost all bachelor’s and master’s degree courses were designed this way. Compared with previous years, the number of courses that do not carry out consultations has significantly reduced, a sign of strengthening ties between the University and the workplace. The apparent marginality of consultation with industry for 6-year integrated master's degrees, such as Medicine, reflects a structural peculiarity of this educational environment, where postgraduate programmes and career opportunities are predominantly regulated and integrated with the public health system.

Overall, the data shows an increasing commitment to designing educational programmes with the labour market, thus increasing the employability of graduates.
