The University Library Services (Sistema Bibliotecario di Ateneo, or, SBA) is responsible for the preservation, development, enhancement and management of the library and archival heritage of the University of Trieste and promotes access to online information resources. In particular it manages:
UniTS library spaces and services
acquisitions, storage and access to bibliographic material
the library catalogue
institutional user training in informative literacy with reference to books and documents 
assistance with the use of bibliographic services and resources
university electronic resources
The University Library Services also coordinate the National Library Services (SBN) offered within the University of Trieste and FVG. The SBN is a cooperative library network that includes libraries of various types in Friuli Venezia Giulia.

In 2024, the University Library Services were stable and well organised, offered consistent services and recorded high user participation. There has been a resumption of monograph acquisitions and a consolidation of loans, indicating that physical resources are being used regularly. Furthermore, digital acquisitions continue to develop decisively. The electronic resources available are growing and their use is increasing significantly. There has been a gradual reduction in paper subscriptions, consistent with the digitalisation strategy.
