As can be seen from the graph, the University of Trieste assigns lectures to permanent and contract teaching staff. Both the number of permanent members of teaching staff and the number of teaching hours provided are growing. On average, in 2023 each teacher spent 90 hours teaching (91 hours in 2022). The compulsory teaching load for full-time professors is 120 hours (80 hours for part-time professors). Researchers are given a lower teaching load depending on their contract and on whether they work full-time or part-time.
