The gender composition of the student population does not show great variations over time. The departments traditionally characterised by a larger number of male students are Engineering and Architecture, Physics, and Mathematics and Geosciences. The Department of Economics has an almost equal number of male and female students. In the other departments, the number of female students is higher.
