Lifelong learning consists of the set of theories, strategies, policies and organisational models that tend to interpret, direct and manage individual and collective training processes throughout the course of existence (one also speaks of 'lifelong learning' or 'lifelong education'). The object of lifelong learning goes beyond the boundaries of the school system and vocational training. It includes, in fact, the whole range of training moments specifically related to work and further education, as well as those aimed more generally at the cultural interests of adults. The term was only introduced in the last decades of the 20th century and its spread in Europe is primarily linked to the fact that the European Union included it, as of 1994, among the objectives financed by the European Social Fund. Among the various training proposals is the Intensive training course for socio-pedagogical professional educators, an initiative realised by the university in the implementation of the provisions of law no. 205/2007 on the criteria and requirements for the award of the professional qualification of socio-pedagogical professional educator.
