The University Library System takes care of the conservation, development, valorisation and management of the bibliographic heritage of the University of Trieste. and promotes access to online information resources. In particular, it takes care of

• the management of the spaces and services of the university libraries
• the management of the spaces and services of the university libraries the acquisition, conservation and provision of bibliographic material
• catalogue management training of institutional users in bibliographical and documentary information skills
• assistance in the use of bibliographic services and resources
• the management of the university's electronic resources

The University Library System also coordinates the SBN Pole of the University of Trieste and FVG, a cooperative library network that includes libraries of various types in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
