Breakdown of contributions from public administrations-AP01

The graph shows the origin of University funds (coming from local, regional, national and European institutions, as well as private individuals) divided into funds used to cover costs and to make investments. The increase in the total value of funds compared to 2022 is attributable to the Ordinary Fund (FFO), which is also the main source of funding for universities in Italy. The FFO is awarded to universities on the basis of performance evaluation in teaching and research activities, but also considers other objectives, such as the level of internationalisation.

Other temporary staff-RU38-39-41-42

‘Untenured staff’ includes various individuals who work at the University: research assistants, professionals and other external individuals who participated in a public selection and carry out teaching activities with a contract as a collaborator. The term also includes students working part-time for the University who are involved in various activities as well as tutors supporting students. The number of tutors increased significantly in 2023. Compared to 2022, the number of untenured, substitute teachers has increased again.

Accessory fund-RU21

The amount of the Accessory Fund is determined on the basis of stringent contractual and regulatory constraints. Its amount has been subjected, for more than a decade, to a statutory ceiling that cannot be exceeded through the allocation of its own budget resources. The University has always opted to set up the Fund in the maximum possible amount. In fact, the Accessory Fund is used to pay off positions of responsibility, risky or inconvenient work, the monthly accessory allowance, and individual and collective productivity.

Cessations, new members and role advancements-RU07

The graph shows the beginning and conclusion of teaching and research positions, divided by role. In 2023, 32 researchers were recruited and 17 full professors ended their contract. In 2023, outgoing staff exceeded new arrivals, leading to a decrease in the number of teachers and researchers. In 2021 and 2022, on the other hand, new arrivals exceeded outgoing staff, outlining a general trend of growth in teaching and research staff .
