Incoming guidance activities and Pathways for Transversal Skills and Guidance (PCTO)-ST28

For prospective students UniTS provides outreach services and for newly enrolled students it organises pre-sessional courses. The University school liaison services include: participation in various events, such as fairs and exhibitions; organisation of summer courses, open-day events, circulation of information through institutional emails; signing of agreements with high schools and informative presentations at secondary education institutes. In 2023, in addition to the many traditional outreach initiatives, UniTS offered courses for high school students in the region.

Consultations with the business community (guidelines committees)-CT16

The university must constantly adapt its course catalogue to the professional profiles required by the labour market. Italian law (Ministerial Decree No 509/1999 and No 270/2004) requires universities to establish a continuous relationship with companies and professional associations in order to communicate the aims of their proposed course catalogues and to identify the knowledge and skills that each degree course must provide.

"Active" staff in academic research, by CUN scientific area-RU59

Staff who are 'active in research' are considered the ones who exceed the threshold value of the Minimum Scientific Productivity Indicator (IPm -MPI). The threshold is exceeded if at least two publications with a CVR weight greater than 2, and a total CVR weight greater than or equal to 10, have been produced in the four-year reference period. A partial or total exemption may be associated with the MPI.

National university system ranking-CS01

The Ordinary Fund (Fondo di Finanziamento Ordinario - FFO), represents the main income for public universities. In our university, the FFO has grown in 2022 and 2023, but the proportion of funding received by the University within the rest of the Italian university system has reduced. The increase is due, therefore, to the overall increase in resources distributed to the entire system. In our university, the FFO increase is essentially due to two factors: (1) the FFO ‘bonus quota’ increased and UniTS receieved a greater percentage of this share within the national university system.

Outgoing services (Placement and Career services)-ST50-51-52-54-55

The Career Service provides job placement and counselling for undergraduates and graduates of the University of Trieste, with the aim of reducing the time young people need to enter the labour market by as much as possible. The office provides information on employment prospects, career opportunities for each degree course and on how to search actively for a job. The office also deals with the activation of extracurricular traineeships in the FVG region (traineeships co-financed by the Pipol Project as well as ordinary traineeships) and in other Italian regions.

Resources and facilities-ST40-41-42

The courses on offer must be accompanied by adequate facilities. The university has implemented a significant investment plan for educational facilities, which targets both study areas (building renovations, classroom furnishings, study rooms...) and IT facilities (providing classrooms with computers, projectors and digital boards, creating computer rooms...). The growth of the University's student population is linked to the greater availability of educational facilities, as shown by the data provided by the indicators.

Sports, cultural and social activities-ST56-57

Sports and cultural activities are offered as part of students' university experience. Through the University Sports Centre (CUS) and with the funding of cultural associations open to students, the university offers the opportunity to take part in sport, music and theatre. The indicators reveal the scale of these activities, both through the allocation of financial resources approved by the Board of Directors and through the number of events and participants.

Opinions of students, graduates and PhDs-ST81-82

For several years now, the University has started a self-assessment process with the aim of analysing its ability to respond to the needs of different stakeholders, first and foremost students. The level of student satisfaction is measured through the administration of specific online questionnaires aimed at monitoring the quality of the services provided by UniTS and at identifying appropriate corrective actions where problematic issues arise.
