Human Resources are the most important element for all so-called KIO (knowledge intensive organizations). The University pays particular attention to the development of this “human capital”, on whom the ability to create and spread knowledge depends. The University’s human resources are composed of three typologies
On the one hand, there are the permanent positions:

Service provisions on behalf of third parties and research contributions-CT11

The University also carries out contract activities ‘on behalf of third parties’, that is, activities that involve the provision of services for the market. These are real commercial activities, which generally involve carrying out research (more rarely an educational activity) for companies or other bodies. Research and teaching projects can be defined on demand whereas routine activities such as tests on concrete or ropes are proposed within a catalogue.

Incorporated spin off companies-CT08

At the end of 2023, the University had 19 spin-offs. Activities ranged from the production of software, to engineering, clinical and environmental services, development of medical devices for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, and organisation and optimisation of business processes. Two new spin-offs were launched in 2022, while none were launched in 2023. 

Social networks-CT42

The indicator shows the University's social media following, as well as the intensity of communication activity. In recent years, the number of followers has increased on all the social networks on which the University is present.

Outgoing guidance-ST50-51-52-54-55

The Career Service carries out placement and job orientation activities for undergraduates, recent graduates and PhDs at the University with the aim of reducing the time it takes to enter the labour market. Job@ UniTS is the University's Career Day, an important event that connects graduates and PhDs to the world of business and local institutions. The Career Service organises job placement and orientation events (Recruitment Day, Job Orientation Workshops, Business Game/Hackathon/Challenge).

Patents are a legal instrument that protects the results of innovative research and gives the owner the right to exclude third parties from producing, commercialising and importing the invention. Registration of a patent provides legal protection of know-how, scientific discoveries, and technological solutions resulting from long and expensive research.
